Branding

The project brief was to create the branding and materials for the Ed Managers Institute, a summer event designed to help Head Start and Early Head Start education managers lead through change.

Design Concept

After a competitive analysis of education institutes and leadership conferences was completed, I created a mind map starting from the word "champion". The words I started sketching from for the left logo were "ally", "advocate", and "badge of honor." For the middle logo, I used the words "supporter", "torch-bearer", "campaigner", and "spark" to inspire my sketches. For the right logo sketches, words like "promoter", "upholder", and "leader" were the foundation for the imagery.

Final Design

A final design was selected after the three concepts were presented to leadership and stakeholders from the University of Washington and NCECDTL. Final steps included creating a horizontal logo, creating black and white options, and developing an identity guide for visual branding guidance.

Event Materials

Event collateral designs included items like banners, name badges, notebooks, pens, and a presentation template for presenters. However, this event planning started in January 2020 and all designs meant for printing were not used due to COVID 19.
